ShoppingThe clothes we keep for their stories
By Sara Tilla
Ten quiet minutes to notice what needs attention before another week begins.

Choose a few pieces you wore this week and look at them in good light. You are not conducting a wardrobe audit. You are simply noticing what would make them easier to wear again.
Set aside anything with a loose button, a snag or a hem that needs attention. Write down the repair rather than leaving the item in a vague pile of things to deal with later. For work beyond your skills, ask a repair professional what is possible.
Read each care label before cleaning or storing a garment. Different fabrics and constructions need different treatment; one favourite laundry habit will not suit everything.
Finish by putting together tomorrow’s outfit. The useful part of this ritual is not a perfect cupboard. It is having the clothes you want to wear ready when you need them.
