ShoppingA Sunday ritual for the clothes you love
By Andrea Hills
Some pieces earn their place without appearing in a weekly outfit rotation.

There is the blouse from a first important meeting, the scarf someone brought home from a trip, the dress you cannot quite imagine giving away. A wardrobe can hold a personal archive as well as everyday clothing.
Separate the question of usefulness from the question of meaning. A sentimental piece does not need to become practical to justify being kept. It can simply belong to a memory you value.
If space is limited, choose the pieces that carry the strongest stories. Write a short note about each one: where it came from, who was there, what you remember. That note may matter more with time than the exact occasion it could be worn again.
For storage and cleaning, follow the item’s care instructions or ask a specialist about delicate pieces. The purpose is to look after something, not to turn memory into another task.
