Some clothes become familiar in the way a favourite room does. You know their weight, their softness and the way they fit into an ordinary evening. They ask very little of you.

A wardrobe can hold both aspiration and comfort. It does not have to be edited down to a single mood. The piece you wear at home may matter as much as the one you wear to be seen.

Care for the things that already serve you. Read the label, make small repairs when you can, and allow a well-loved garment to look like it has lived a little.
