The story

The outfit you imagine and the day you have are sometimes different things. Weather, walking, work and the need to carry half your life in a bag all deserve a place in the decision.

Start with what will make the day easier, then add one thing you enjoy. A colour near your face, a favourite pair of earrings, a soft layer you can reach for later.

Practicality need not flatten personal style. It can make space for it by removing the distractions of clothes that are asking too much.
